Product Research Overview
Purpose
Evaluate whether a product is worth sourcing before you commit money to it — before it's in your Inventory or linked to a Supplier.
Who this page is for
Anyone sourcing new products to sell, whether adding to an existing catalogue or starting a new one.
What Product Research shows
Search for a product by title, ASIN, or barcode (see Searching by Title, ASIN or Barcode) and Tymmerce returns:
- Current BSR and category
- Estimated monthly sales based on BSR and category benchmarks
- Current sellers/offers on the listing
- Fee estimate (referral fee + estimated FBA fee)
- Estimated profitability, once you enter a sourcing cost

See Understanding Metrics for exactly how each figure is calculated and its margin of error — these are estimates, not guarantees.
A typical research flow
- Search for a candidate product.
- Check BSR and estimated monthly sales against your minimum volume threshold.
- Enter your expected sourcing cost to see estimated profit per unit and margin.
- If it clears your bar, add it to a Supplier to move it toward being purchasable — see Linking Suppliers to Products.
Save products you're evaluating but haven't decided on yet to a Watchlist rather than losing the research when you navigate away — accessible from Product Research → Watchlist.
